| 2006 marks the 11-year anniversary of AIRspace AIRspace (Artist In Residence) is a work-in-progress performance laboratory and rehearsal facility designed to allow selected resident artist to experience both the production and creative process within the performing arts in order to develop skills to present their performing arts craft. Twice a year, four LGBT performing artist or artist groups are selected for a 5 month residency. Applications are encouraged in performance, dance, theater, music and/or any other multi-disciplinary art form. After being selected, resident artist spend the first two months preparing their pieces, then present their work-in-progress performance piece in two rounds (one performance for each a artist within the 3rd and 4th month) which is followed by a post-performance critical response discussion with the audience. It is these Q & A’s that help resident artist develop their final realized performance piece for their third and final week-end presentation held in their 5th month of the residency.
