JSDance  presents:
Twincest (JSDance Residency Artists) in

Jez & Shawn appeared at Jon Sims Center April, May, July, 2006

Twincest creates [fluidseries], a collection of work exploring the physical and metaphorical qualities of bodily fluids. Twincest is the multi-medium result of two lovers' interpersonal dynamics in artistic collaboration. Twincest's work comprises performance and visual mediums including, but not limited to: film, photography, installation, graphic and web design, dance/movement, theater, spoken word/text, and experimental music/noise art. A merging of performance and multi-media arts, the duo explores sameness and desire through movement, images, objects, and sound.

Twincest conjoined in October of 2005 and has performed at a number of San Francisco's venues and festivals including The Traveling Erotic Art Show (SF). Twincest's first work, Limerance, was recognized in the San Francisco Bay Guardian's as one of 2005's 'Top Ten' dance performances. Their work has been called "daring, hot, rough, and unexpected". The series delves into the performers’ relationship through shared fluids beginning with a look at saliva.
• Saliva within the body coats the oral cavity and esophagus so that swallowed items do not damage the mucosa or other tissues. Saliva solubilizes dry food to allow taste to occur. It maintains oral hygiene and aids in digestion.
• Saliva outside the body is carried on the tongue, dripped from the lips, or is projected via spit. Spit, an abject of the body, is culturally associated with disdain.
• Salivation happens from the presence, thought, or smell of food, or in the irritation of substances in the mouth or throat.
• Saliva applies with hunger, desire. Consumption of the loved one. Lick it up.
Through a process of collaboration, [fluidseries] incorporates these four fluids as central themes of the evening-length performance. The work will not be conveyed in linear fashion, but as subjects occurring, resounding, and referencing. Thus recreating a pattern of discovery analogous to memories and behaviors that occur with relationships.
